October 9, 2024Easy enough install - comes with a sticky back, however these are only in order to hold it in place temporarily, as the actual securing is done with a fixing bracket and screws. I've had no problem with any drop outs or LED failures so far due to weather (and we've had some awful weather over the last week or so). I will say though that because we have a victorian property, the eaves are quite deep and so they are protected from the worst of the elements.
In terms of quailty, they seem good. As I expect from a well known brand like govee. No open wires or quailty control issues and the LED units feel solid and well sealed. It's obviously what bits are designed to be installed inside and which aren't. However I did have to drill through a porch to fit various cables though, as I'm sure most properties will need to think of how best to feed the lights out.
Once in place they look fantastic, just be sure to get the distance consitant. I wavered towards the end and it didn't look quite right and I had to do them again. Looks very classy on a dimmed, warm white but you also have the option to go all out with scenes and rainbow colours if you wanted too. Which brings me to the app - fairly straight forward pairing process, especially if you already have the app like I did. Took a matter of minutes and integrated with my alexa via the skill perfectly. App is very intuitive and the possibilities for customisation are near endless. Probably the best app of any smart device I've used. Price point feels reasonable for the quality and ease of use. Would have liked the entire device to be suitable for an outdoor power supply and fully waterproof but otherwise, fantastic
If they stand the test of time, I'll be very happy.

December 21, 2023Tired of spending $80+ every winter on new Christmas lights that would burn out or die within a few months, I've decided to try the Govee lights. With a 3 year warranty, I'm hoping to have a much better experience.
Pros: relatively easy to install, very bright (I run mine at 50% brightness and they're still as bright as any other Christmas lights on the street), power supply on both kits (50ft and 100ft kits) were the same as the 150ft kit (so decently over powered and shouldn't burn out any time soon), app is fairly intuitive and setup was easy.
Cons: 3M tape sticks well to the house, not very well to the lights, Govee could make the backing of each light more textured for better adhesion I think. Only comes with enough screw clips for about 1 every other light. Given how crucial alignment is for good looking lights, I want at least 1 per light. Had to buy some random clips from Amazon to finish putting them up. I strongly suggest Govee not cheap out on this and just throw in another 2-3 dozen little plastic clips in each kit. Not a big fan of how visible these lights are, a light grey tone or beige would have been nice to blend in with the soffits better.
And my biggest complaint by far: you can't buy blank extensions for this! If you have multiple gables and want to run an extension between each without lights, you're going to need to DIY one. The 100ft kit comes with 1 such extension and the 150ft kit apparently comes with two, but none in the 50ft kit and can't buy them by themselves.
I also wish there were 2 outputs on the power supply. My power outlet is near the center of the house, so I had to buy 2 kits to run lights in each direction from the outlet.
Just what I always wanted

December 31, 2023I bought these to replace some string lights that we had that stopped working last year. I figured I would make one big purchase to get high quality lights that I'll never have to mess with again, at least not while I live in this house.
Installation:
Make sure you use alcohol to clean and dry the spot you're about to stick the lights before you stick them up and they hold up pretty well. I've heard that the adhesive can fail in humid climates (on reddit so take that with a grain of salt) so I downloaded a 3D print file for a bracket that allows you to screw them to the soffit instead of just relying on the adhesive. If you live in a normally dry climate then you may not have any problems. I haven't had any problems yet, but I'd rather be proactive with what could potentially go wrong. If you have a porch and you're putting the lights along the front of the eave of the porch then just the one 12ft extension that's included for going between floors won't be enough. See below.
The app:
The app is super easy to use and adding or editing the lights is very easy to do in the app. You can rely solely on the app or you can use Alexa/Google to control the lights (minimally) as well. To change the color or set specific lights up you have to use that app but if you just want to turn the lights off or on then you can use Alexa for that.
The lights:
The lights themselves are very bright and well built. They don't feel like they are going to fall apart or break.
One complaint:
The one complaint that I had is that in the 100ft string there is one "jumper" to go from one floor to the next. It's a section that's about 12 feet long that has no lights. That didn't work for me because I have a porch and put the lights at the front edge of the porch. I would have needed 2 of the extensions in order to get to the second floor with no lights on the side of the house. Yyou can't just buy the extension from Govee either. If you want another extension you have to take to eBay and hope someone is selling one they didn't need in order to buy one. People are charging upwards of $70 just for that one piece because they know they are so hard to come by. If you have a porch, I recommend just buying the 150-foot string and planning to either keep spares of the lights or sell the strands that you don't use to recoup some of your costs. Alternatively you can do what I did and just put lights facing outward that go up the side of the house. Other than that, everything was great.
Outdoor Wall Lights Well Worth the Purchase

June 5, 2024I was excited when the wall lights were announced as the newest fixtures to join the Govee family as I was in need of replacing my current lights on my garage and front porch. Thee in total. I have many outdoor Govee fixtures already including permanent outdoor lights, ground lights, and path lights, so knowing how these would seamlessly work with the others was a big point as I could continue to customize my show based on the holiday or even what sports teams were playing for championships (Purdue basketball and Kansas City Chiefs fan so lots to celebrate this past winter)
The lights themselves when used as regular dusk to dawn lights utilizing a routine via Alexa were bright so I found myself usually running them at 25% brightness unless I needed to have them all the way up when going out to get the mail or to let the dog out. The were plenty of bright for those task and then some. Overall I am extremely happy with the purchase and hope to buy two more to replace the back potion of wall lights on my house. Thank you to Govee for making another incredible lighting fixture and to those who may be on the fence about purchasing, I can honestly say you will not regret purchasing these as they are very bright and extremely easy to setup and connect. It took me 5-10 minutes per fixture to install.
