Best UCS set? Maybe. Incredible build? Absolutely!

September 6, 2024This UCS AT-AT model is a wonderful build, both in terms of building experience and the model you have at the end. It rivals the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) in those areas. The intricacy, technicality, and attention to detail is superb. The size and scale is simply massive. And, impressively, it does offer “play” features, although these should be considered more as “display” features. You can adjust the legs and feet to different angles and positions, move and open the head/cockpit and remove the head and main body side panels for a cross-section view, use the snow speeder bikes and tripod blaster, attach a Luke minifigure to the AT-AT’s belly with his lightsaber as if he’s about to blow it up in the iconic The Empire Strikes Back scene, and add 30 more snowtroopers to fill in the interior seating (which I did, and it is worth it!). It’s simply stunning to look at, it stands sturdy on its own, and it’s fun to change up the poses and remove the panels to see the interior. The most impressive and fun part of the build, for me, was the head and neck, which is so well designed, looks amazing and intimidating, and articulates and moves just like in the films. The big blaster cannons even have moving recoil action! Perfect.
The building experience itself is incredible. It is essentially a giant posable Technic model with detailed gray plating on the outside and a very detailed interior, so you work with a lot of different types of pieces and unique building methods, which make the repetitive parts (mostly the legs) much more interesting to complete. There is a lot of symmetry so there’s some repetition there too, but again, the detail, structure, and way it is built makes it interesting and engaging.
This thing is huge, and I needed 2 tables to assemble it - one to place the model on once the legs were attached to the main supporting platform, and one to build components that I added to the model as I finished each section. But one bigger table would work. Having space to build (and display) is key. Like the UCS Millennium Falcon, it comes with 4 boxes of pieces inside the main box, with 18 sets of bags in total, and it took me about 2 weeks of slow, casual building to finish with one bag set at a time. It does demand attention and patience to make sure you get everything correct since it is such a technical model. I made a couple of small, quickly fixable mistakes, but it would be frustrating to make larger mistakes and have to significantly disassemble, so taking your time with this one is worth it, especially considering the cost. But the instructions do a very good job at having you pause at crucial steps to make sure you have everything right. It was also fun to read about how it was designed while I worked through the instruction books (4 books in total, one per box, rather than a single massive book).
Overall, I rate this 5 stars, right up there with the UCS Millennium Falcon. The Falcon is my favorite, but this is a very close second. If you can budget it (it is expensive, especially for the piece count), get it before it retires!
Worth waiting for

September 9, 2024I will preface this review by stating that I have not completed the build (as yet, last few bags). However, I will provide the following information about my experience with the product.
- Delivery: I placed this order on the May the Fourth by with you, Star Wars big sale period in the beginning half of 2024. Unfortunately, it was not in stock at the time and had to place it on 'back order'. I received this order, including the two (2) free gifts at the end of August 2024 instead of September 2024 like originally advised.
- Intended recipient: This was a purchase for myself, an adult LEGO fan with Intermediate-Advanced building skills/experience. I waited a since original release to be able to purchase this set as this is a pricier set compared to most of my collection.
- Packaging: I received this in a large, moderately cardboard padded box that was discrete (no LEGO branding on the outside). No damages to the set box inside the shipping box.
- Instructions: The instructions provided were all included as advertised, clearly labelled and of high quality. Flipping through the pages, it is all printed very clearly and easy to follow.
- Building bags: The individual step building bags were all included, no missing bags or pieces. The bags are all labelled very clearly as expected of LEGO.
Overall: I am very glad I made this purchase, despite the high price tag, as it is a wonderful set and easy to build (for me personally). I love how many mini figs are included! I am very confident that you would make an adult LEGO Star Wars fan incredibly happy if you bought this for them as a gift - though do keep in mind the size of this set once assembled.
What would really round out my sets (if you have purchased the other big collectors' editions of the Star Destroyer & Mellenium Falcon like I have) would be a new Death Star *hint hint LEGO :) *
The shield will be down in no time

December 15, 2023Marvellous build. Excellent final model.
A fine replica of the source material. I have long thought that circular dish piece behind Veer’s could be replicated perfectly with that lego piece. The doors on the side work very well (afew ropes down to the ground could be added in future roll out’s for the snowtroopers to make the ground).
My few thoughts would be a better minifigure range for the price would be beneficial and justify the price fully. We don’t necessarily want to buy additional battle packs to fill the model, perhaps another 3 snowtroopers would be better. In future please add the waistcapes to the snowtroopers.
As we see more UCS sets with exclusive minifigures, a more lucrative selection of figures would be better. Particularly since a same more lucrative Luke is available now in the X-Wing. However, this being said, maybe I’m being young and too influenced by YouTubers!
With regard to the ‘bits falling off’, which has been referenced in previous reviews. The four ‘clips’ that are sort of ‘wheel arches’ at the top of the legs are not marvellously thought through, they do regularly flick off if the model is picked up. The undercarriage of the model again has some bits that’s aren’t totally secured on. Also with regard the head of the model, the front ‘face’ is secured onto the front of the head, only via three ‘two by one’ tiles. The face is effectively stuck onto the front of the head infront of where the drivers sit.
But in general this is not an issue. The model is not designed to be picked up and moved around regularly to be played with. It’s a model rather than play set.
Also having had this set a year, I (or nameless relatives) have regularly knocked the head off or broken parts off. I have found it pretty straightforward to fix. Which is a credit to the designers after such a thorough and large build.
A very good enjoyable build, minor improvements can be sorted out on further phases of the model. A very fine first attempt and the interior is marvellous.
Great Build!

October 28, 2024When I found out this set was due to retire at the end of the year I knew I had to get my hands on it. I was not disappointed by this set at all. This is my second UCS set with the first being the most recent UCS X-wing. First off the packaging for this set is awesome. Loved when I opened the side panel it looks like you’re looking through the binoculars that the rebels are using to see the walkers and when you open it up further you see the walkers closer.
As for the build itself I really enjoyed it. As some people have mentioned there are repetitive parts of the build but that’s to be expected when you’re building the Walker. The 4 different boxes being divided up into different sections was also nice as it let me plan out this build better as you’re not going to complete it all in a day if you’re working full time.
The instructions made it clear and easy to build and as I completed a box I felt a sense of accomplishment as I finished the different portions.
My only complaint is that the panels on the sides and tops aren’t in secure but you can see why they did that as this set is primarily for display and not play.
Overall I would buy this set again and have been recording it to my friends
